After hitchhiking from Manali to Keylong with a nice French man, Nico, I took a 15 hour bus ride to Leh. My eyeballs felt like sand from riding in the desert. I wanted to keep them open, as we went over passes at 17, 000 feet. I've never seen anything so incredible.
I am still in shock of what I am seeing every day I walk outside. I can't explain it, I've never seen a place like this before. Pictures are provided.
My days are filled with mountain climbing, using my first aid kit, and hanging out with my new friend Enni, who is a redheaded girl from Finland. Yesterday we took a local bus and hitchhiked to the Tsksey monastery. I've never seen anything so incredible. We climbed to the top of this colorful Gompa on top of the hill, and could see mountain range upon mountain range, luminescent green rice fields, and a sunset you couldn't capture on the camera. Inside the Gompa was this huge golden Buddha, about 3 stories high, sitting in lotus position. The feeling of freedom on the wind, and soaking up the sunshine everyday. I climbed to the top of the mountain behind Leh today, and am just enjoying relaxing and slowing down.
The people here are so beautiful. Tan, rough mountain skin with a pink cheek glow. Hard work branded in their eyes, and a spirit that will make your heart leap for joy. On my way to Alchi to stay in a village and see 11century paintings, then off to Shrinigar near Pakistan. Loving it up North, and wishing I had more time... Life is a beautiful thing. And honesty is a kiss on the lips.

| View from the temple atop the hill. I was here yesterday listening to the Tibetan flags flutter in the wind. |
