Hello world

So much has happened in the past couple of weeks.

I have been traveling with a girl from Devon, England who is absolutely awesome, and just as adventurous as I am. We have spent the past weekend in Doi Inthanon (highest point in Thailand) trekking through the jungle, camping by the heat of a campfire, and swimming nude in huge waterfalls.

She invited herself back to the school with me and we have been teaching together for the past 3 days. She is really into alternative movement, spiritual things, meditation, and drama, so she somehow balances me out. We have spent every minute together for the past week and a half, and last night I asked if we could not talk at all cuz I just needed to get her voice out of my head. We slept near Thom Lod cave, set up a efficient and warm camp, and then swam in the huge cave singing to the river goddess and watching the wild swifts swarm about in the sky. Incredible.

I feel a huge burden to help the Burma refuges in the United Nations camps near Mae Hong Song. There are over 100,000 Shan people in camp seeking medical aid, love, and attention. Today I was going to go to Supong to book my ticket to New Delhi, but there is a war going on 5k from where I am teaching. I have a strong calling to go and help at the camps.
Lula, my British friend, is really into fair trade and sustainable energy. I think that is awesome, and we have been recycling everything we use, but as far as my concerns go, I am more concerned for people over things.
Also, with my biology dissection kit, and first aid kit together, I have been able to treat a number of the children's wounds. Even people we come in contact with, I have been able to treat, and love it! We were hiking to this waterfall in the National Park and this couple had a motorcycle accident right in front of us. I pulled out my first aid kit and was able to help! It was so awesome, and I love treating wounds! There was a girl yesterday who had a cut, I cut the tip of my baby toe off on a trek yesterday, one of the boys hit his head playing football, the list goes on. I know a little about medicine, but want to know more!

Any ways, there is this awesome medical school in Goa, India I am looking into. We'll see where that goes.

Today Lula and I are relaxing and planning a fundraiser for the school. We want to hold a benefit concert for the children here at Thom Lod where the children sing some of their traditional songs. That's still in the works.

I wanted to blog quickly and recap the last couple of weeks. Btw, one of the boys at the school called Go, i found out is a Shan refuge, who used to be a solider in the army. He was shooting people at the age of 7 and ran away from the army at the age of 10. He has been at the school ever since and is in a lower level class considering his lack of schooling. I feel heart wrenched for him and want to show him love. I look in his eyes which are black, he walks like a man, he knows no childhood.

Yesterday morning we got up early and drove to this village called Mae Pamg where the boys had a soccer tournament with all of the towns nearby. It was a really big deal, and Lula and I went as falong cheerleaders. They even gave us green jerseys to wear. One of the boys on the soccer team is called Jalong. He is in the oldest class, and has been extremely nice to me and flirts with me quite often. What's odd is, I am attracted to him, but nothing can come of it, for that would be wrong as his teacher. He winked at me yesterday after walking of the huge soccer field. Haha. Oh my. I am only a year older than him, and I think that's why he feels like he can flirt with me.

The weather here is getting really really hot. I wake up in the mornings and the mountainous jungle is covered in smoke, and so much heat, you can't see very far off. Lula and I are planning a visa run to Burma next week, and on the way back climbing the 2nd highest mountain in Thailand. We are taking a motorbike from Pai to Burma which takes about 7 hours one way, but is cheaper than going on a bus.

I will try to keep updating. I love you all and miss you! Going to call tonight!
